Three ways of transferring energy, conduction, convection, radiation. Energy is never lost just converted. Conduction, energy transferred through solids. Convection is energy being transferred by air. Radiation is transmitted through electromagnetic waves, the sun produces infra-red radiation which heats the water, your body gives off infra-red radiation. Radiation unlike the other two can travel through a vacuum. Infra-red radiation is at a higher frequency therefore energy than visible light.

If scientists can create great machines using fire heat, then why cant you answer my question. Why is there no machine to take the heat of fire and turn it into energy for cars.
